Mount Saint Mary College Strategic Plan 2020 – 2025
Collaborating, Serving, and Innovating for a Brighter and Better World
Dear Mount Community
We are pleased to share the Mount Saint Mary College 2020-2025 Strategic Plan. This future blueprint builds upon the Mount’s mission, our Dominican values, and defines a new vision for how Mount Saint Mary College will prepare students in the liberal arts and professional programs to better the world and serve our many communities.
The Planning Task Force (PTF) engaged over 1,500 voices through a Collaborative Strategic Planning process over the 2019-20 academic year. Central to our collaborative model was to engage our internal and external stakeholders to include a diversity of perspectives and experiences. The 42 PTF members, representing faculty, administrators, staff, students and a Dominican Sister, gathered data, made sense of issues, and developed goals with the college community during a campus-wide Goals Conference. We are grateful to all who engaged in the many conversations and drafts, both in-person or through remote meetings.
Five Focus Areas comprise the 2020-2025 Strategic Plan:
- Service and Community Matter means leveraging our Dominican traditions to work with the community and serve others by becoming a leader in community service-focused higher education. This includes expanding service-learning opportunities in our curriculum and working with community partners to develop service-learning opportunities for our students.
- Students Matter means creating student-centered experiences and support through collaborative and innovative approaches to ensure students gain opportunities and success through excellent advisement and mentorship from the time they join our community to graduation and beyond.
- Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Matter means developing a thriving culture of diversity, equity and inclusivity among all members of the MSMC community. This includes expanding opportunities for all members of the MSMC community to explore and celebrate diversity, equity, and inclusivity, as well as to increase the diversity of our student body, faculty and staff.
- Communication Matters means building a strong culture of campus synergy with highly effective communication and collaboration across campus. This also includes staying connected with students as alums.
- Innovation and Quality Matter means maintaining and developing competitive academic programs, optimizing our financial sustainability, and promoting environmental stewardship within our campus and externally.
The Planning Task Force recognizes that our work is just beginning. We are excited to work with you and be responsive to and mindful of our current climate in which the safety, well-being and social justice practices need to be at the forefront as we strive to best serve our students and our communities.
Sincerely,
Ryan Williams, Co-Chair Janine Bixler, Co-Chair Jason N. Adsit, Past College President
