The student art exhibition “Young and Black” is now open at Mount Saint Mary College’s Kaplan Family Library and Learning Center.
The exhibit is free and open to the public. It is located on the first floor of the Dominican Center on the Mount campus, 330 Powell Ave., Newburgh, N.Y.
“Young and Black” features the works of lifelong Newburgh resident Christopher Lane, a senior majoring in Business Management and Administration with a Graphic Design minor. In this series, Lane delves deep into the life he has come to know as a young African American man living in the City of Newburgh.
Composed of photography, paintings, and digital pieces, Lane’s work intersects the boundaries of fine art and social activism, utilizing the creative power of visual communication to engage and challenge the viewers’ perceptions.
Lane summed up his work succinctly: “This is who I am.”
