Mount Saint Mary College students recently learned how to use Naloxone anti-opioid overdose medicine.
Mount Saint Mary College Nursing students added another tool to their life-saving repertoire recently at a training session for administering naloxone, an anti-opioid overdose medicine.
The event was an initiative of the Mount’s Student Nurses Association (SNA).
Naloxone – often known by the brand name Narcan – comes in the form of a nasal spray or a needle. It temporarily reverses the effects of opioids, buying caregivers more time to seek medical attention in the event of an overdose.
In addition to those who attended the recent event, hundreds of Mount students and faculty have been certified in the use of the medicine over the course of several such trainings at the college.
