Mount Saint Mary College President Dr. Jason N. Adsit will now serve as a Consultant to the college’s Board of Trustees – effective August 31 – with Fr. Gregoire Fluet assuming the role of Acting President on September 1.
“The Board of Trustees thanks President Adsit for his commitment to the college and looks forward to working with him in his new role,” said Michael Horodyski, Chair of the Mount’s Board of Trustees.
Fr. Fluet currently serves as Campus Chaplain, Director of Campus Ministry, and as an Adjunct Instructor of History and Religious Studies. He brings a wealth of experience and institutional knowledge, as well as an unwavering commitment to service and the Mount’s students.
“I want to personally thank Dr. Adsit for the leadership he has provided Mount Saint Mary College,” said Fr. Fluet. “I am humbled by the confidence the Board of Trustees has chosen to place in me. I am grateful for the encouragement and support of the Dominican Sisters of Hope, already shown in the past, and very real at this moment. It’s an honor for me to lead this incredible college that is made beautiful not only by its setting, but by the past and present staff and faculty — and especially by the past and present students.”
Fr. Fluet was ordained a priest in 1982, and has an MDiv and an MA (Theology, Church History) from St. John’s Seminary in Brighton, Mass. He also has an MA (American History) and a PhD (History) from Clark University.
Throughout his time at the Mount, Fr. Fluet has supported the college community on all levels: counseling, connecting, and cheering students on. As Acting President, he will work with the Board and President’s Cabinet to ensure a smooth transition to an interim president.
During this time, Fr. Fluet will continue in his role as a priest to the community and students, including celebrating Mass.
Over the next several weeks, the board will work with a small search committee to find a highly-qualified interim president for the Mount.
“Please join me in thanking President Adsit for his service to the Mount, and in welcoming Fr. Fluet as the Acting President of Mount Saint Mary College,” said Horodyski.
