Mount Saint Mary College’s School of Nursing is proud to announce a new Master of Science and Post-Master’s Certificate track: Nursing Education.
Nursing Education joins the School of Nursing as its second graduate program, and will now be the fourth track in the post-Master’s program, in addition to Adult-Gerontology, Family Health, and Psychiatric Mental Health.
Nurse educators are in demand, and the Mount’s Nursing Education courses will help students grow as both a nurse and an educator. With a focus on a variety of topics including curriculum design, teaching and learning strategies, and informatics in education and health care, students progressing through the program will take a combination of courses designed for both nurse practitioners and nurse educators.
Students will also have the opportunity to participate in a practicum experience during their final year. During this experience, they will develop, teach, and evaluate courses in both academic and non-academic settings, utilizing their newly acquired knowledge.
At the completion of the Master’s or Post-Master’s Certificate program, students will be prepared to teach the next generation of nurses in both academic and healthcare settings. They’ll also have the option to take the National League of Nursing’s certification exam to become a Certified Nurse Educator.
