Dr. Robert Gervasi, President of Mount Saint Mary College, congratulates Mount Scholarship recipients and donors who helped make their dream of getting an education come true.
Student scholarship was the main course at the Mount Saint Mary College Scholarship Appreciation Brunch on Sunday, November 3, which allowed the college community to thank the many generous donors who provide endowed scholarships for Mount students.
Nearly 90 scholarships were highlighted at the event.
Mount scholarships provide an affordable, values-based education to thousands of deserving students, many of whom are among the first in their families to attend college, noted Lou Bach ’82, Chair of the Mount’s Board of Trustees.
“What is done here at Mount Saint Mary College through scholarships and student support is critical,” said Bach. “It’s with the support of the community, and many of you in attendance today, that we will be able to continue with the Dominican Sisters’ vision of education.”
Nursing major and first-generation college student Patricia Sanchez of Newburgh, N.Y., recipient of the Anne F. Bourne Memorial Scholarship, said she wouldn’t have been able to thrive at the Mount without the scholarship.
“Being able to take time off of having to work so I can focus on my studies, especially as a nursing major, has made a huge impact on my life,” said Sanchez. “I can hopefully come back one day and be able to be a [scholarship] donor as well.”
