Mount Saint Mary College students Riley Senk of Staten Island, Vinnie Sullivan of Lynbrook, N.Y., and Nicole Kreischer of Washingtonville, N.Y. enjoy hanging out at Betty’s Snack Bar on Liberty Street in Newburgh, N.Y. Betty’s participates in the Knight Discount Program.

Mount Saint Mary College and the Downtown District Alliance are supporting local businesses by introducing a new discount program for students, faculty, and staff.

Through the Knight Discounts program, which is being implemented in participating restaurants and stores in Newburgh’s downtown, students, faculty, and staff of the Mount will have access to an exclusive discount of 10 percent off their bill by presenting their Mount ID card.

The program aims to enhance the overall experience of students living and studying in Newburgh, introduce new generations to local businesses, and promote economic growth in the vibrant downtown area.

“This program will not only aid area business, but also help Mount Saint Mary College students to become more familiar with the community,” said Emily Lundy, director of Student Engagement at the Mount. “Service to the local community is built into Mount Saint Mary College’s classes, programs, and student clubs. A stronger connection between Newburgh and the Mount can boost our students’ affinity for the city, and along with it, their desire to serve the community.”
