In honor of Black History Month, the Mount Saint Mary College community experienced Black joy through art, music, poetry, history, sports, and more on Wednesday, February 8.
The college’s Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and the Kaplan Family Library and Learning Center cohosted the “Exploration of Black Joy” event, which encouraged open dialogue and unity.
In July 2022, Jenifer Lee-Gonyea, former professor of Criminology at the college, became the assistant vice president of DEI and Chief Diversity Officer at the Mount. She and her office are working to foster a thriving culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion to benefit everyone in the Mount community. Lee-Gonyea has been a respected and member of the Mount workforce since 2008.
