A trio of Mount Saint Mary College administrators recently previewed the new headquarters site of the Regional Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, which is currently being constructed in Montgomery, N.Y.

In attendance from the Mount were Dr. Robert Gervasi, President of the college; Evan Merkhofer, Interim Vice President of Academic Affairs and associate professor of Biology; and Michael Fox, Acting Dean of the School of Business, associate professor of Business Law, and Pre-Law Advisor.

Fox serves as Chair of the Hudson Valley Advisory Board for the Food Bank and is also a member of the Regional Food Bank Board of Directors.

In order to keep up with increased demand for the organization’s services, the new facility will be “significantly larger and more functional” than the current building in Cornwall, noted Fox. When completed, the building will be able to store approximately four times more food than the current headquarters.

Service and community are at the core of a Mount education. To this end, students, faculty, and staff of the college have a longstanding commitment to Regional Food Bank of the Hudson Valley. For example, through the Mount’s Knight Summer Connections program, incoming freshmen serve their local community before the start of their first semester, including the Food Bank.
