More than 200 area residents enjoyed the third annual Easter celebration and egg hunt at Mount Saint Mary College on Sunday, April 13.
A whopping 2,500 eggs were hidden on the Mount campus for children to find over the course of two separate rounds. Taking a page from Willy Wonka’s book, hidden among the loot were eight golden eggs, each of which entitled lucky egg hunters to special prizes.
“These golden eggs were a huge hit,” noted Anita Kapiti, Project Support Coordinator at the Desmond Center.
The festivities also included face painting, arts and crafts, a live Easter show, and other activities. To top it all off, a pair of Easter bunnies and Mount mascot Mack the Knight were available for photo ops.
The Easter egg hunt was a collaboration between the Mount’s Desmond Center for Community Engagement and Wellness and the Office of Residence Life on campus. In addition, students from the college’s Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP), the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP), and the Knights Wellness Club volunteered to help make the event a success.
The Desmond Center at Mount Saint Mary College provides wellness and educational services for underserved individuals and families. The center offers accessible and equitable educational, health, and wellness services for community members and families in the local area.
