Mount Saint Mary College’s School of Nursing, Nursing Student Union, and Health Services office teamed up to keep students, faculty, and staff flu-free this season through an on-campus clinic on Wednesday, October 9.
Mount Nursing students have done several flu clinics for the cadets at West Point, noted Shannon Christiano of Yaphank, N.Y., president of the Nursing Student Union.
“So why not bring it to the Mount campus?” she said. “Not only will this help to keep our community healthy, but also Nursing students are getting experience giving inductions.”
Doreen Bischof, FNP, ’17, director of Health Services, was a driving force behind the clinic. By the end of only the first hours, 25 students, faculty, and staff members had been immunized, she said.
“We’re thrilled with the number of students we’ve already seen,” noted Bischof. “This is wonderful. I applaud everyone involved.”
Mount Nursing students enjoy state-of-the-art simulation labs and clinical relationships with more than 40 area hospitals. The Mount’s passionate faculty are dedicated to the success of both their undergraduate and graduate students.
