Mount Saint Mary College’s Desmond Center for Community Engagement and Wellness hosted a COVID-19 vaccine and booster clinic for local residents on March 21.
The clinic was provided by Newburgh’s Medical Arts Pharmacy with the support of the Mount’s School of Nursing. The event was one of the first to be offered by the new community center.
Spearheaded by Executive Director Genesis Ramos, the Desmond Center provides wellness and educational services for local individuals and families, including the uninsured.
Funded in part by grants from the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation and New York State’s Higher Education Capital (HECap) program, the Desmond Center offers educational workshops, family counseling services, fitness checks, immunizations, professional development events, and more for the local community.
Additional community wellness programs will be announced in the coming weeks.
