Two things that set the Mount's Division of Education apart from other teacher preparation programs are our emphasis on fieldwork from early on in your program and our commitment to service learning. The card you received from the Division of Education is just one example of when fieldwork and service learning come together.
Many of our teacher candidates learn with the Newburgh community through their work at the Newburgh Armory Unity Center’s Saturday Morning Enrichment Program. In one program, Around the World in Stories, teacher candidates, community children, and education professors worked together to read books and respond to them through collages and poems. These collages were then created into notecards, such as the one you received.
