Where is the HLC Lending Library located?

All materials in the HLC Lending Library collection are available for loan at the Kaplan Family Library, located in the Dominican Center. This collection is displayed next to the circulation desk on Floor 2 of the library.

Who can access this collection?

HEOP, LSAMP, and CSTEP students are given priority access to the HLC collection. As an active participant, you are able to borrow as many materials as you need to succeed in your courses. These materials are loaned for the entire duration of the semester.

Not a part of HEOP, LSAMP, or CSTEP? No problem! In order to support equitable access, our entire student body is encouraged to utilize this collection. During the first two weeks of each semester, HLC materials are available only to those students actively participating in these programs. After this two-week period, the collection opens up to the wider student population. Students not engaged in an HLC program will be granted a 10-day loan period for materials in this collection, but are encouraged to see Library staff if additional resources are needed.

What is HEOP?

The Higher Education Opportunity Program is an academic and student support program geared towards traditionally underserved students. Through mentorship, leadership development, academic programs, and financial support, HEOP students are guided through the college transition process. The program is jointly sponsored by the New York State Department of Education and Mount Saint Mary College. What is LSAMP?

Sponsored by the National Science Foundation, the Lower Hudson Valley Catholic Colleges and Universities Consortium Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation Program (LHVCCUC LSAMP Program) aims to help address the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) workforce pipeline challenges by helping to increase the numbers of students from historically underrepresented minority (URM) populations to complete high-quality degree programs in STEM. Learn more about LSAMP on the MSMC website: https://www.msmc.edu/admissions-aid/undergraduate-admissions/heop/lsamp-program/

What is CSTEP?

The mission of the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) is to increase the number of students from under- represented groups who are pursuing careers in mathematics, science, technology, health-related fields or a licensed profession. Learn more about CSTEP on the MSMC website: https://www.msmc.edu/admissions-aid/undergraduate-admissions/heop/cstep/

Together, the students participating in these programs represent the drive and dedication that defines the Mount Saint Mary community. The HLC Lending Library was established to support this student cohort by ensuring that the course materials needed for student success are readily available without cost.
