Taylor Casey
Assistant Librarian for Access & Outreach Services
Bio
Taylor Casey is an Assistant Librarian for Access & Outreach. In this role she assesses the quality and effectiveness of all access services areas within the library, as well as the webpage and social media. She develops programs of interest to students, staff, and faculty, and teaches information literacy through bibliographic instruction. Casey is the liaison librarian for the Division of Humanities, the School of Business, and the School of Nursing.
Casey holds two master's degrees from the University at Albany, SUNY in English and Information Science, as well as a bachelor's degree from The College of Saint Rose in English. She enjoys the ability to combine the two fields of study in her role, finding that her experience in thesis research has assisted in her role as a librarian. Her M.A. thesis studies the relationship between science-fiction and human creationism, focusing on how a literary text plays a role into understanding the scientific epoch it occupies. She finished her M.S. in Information Science as an intern at the Kaplan Family library at MSMC, working on developing an identity for a graphic novel collection within an academic institution. Casey is passionate about information literacy and the part it plays in everyday life. When she isn't in the library or running around campus, she is reading, writing, or finding another crafting hobby to consume her evenings.
