Bio

Professor Uebbing is certified by the American Association of Nurse Credentialing as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She practices in the state of New York, and has practiced in internal medicine for the past 20 years. She also provides current clinical practice application to her graduate teaching. Professor Uebbing participates in international clinical missions and, as a former U.S. Peace Corps volunteer, she participates in health-focused initiatives to support volunteers and local projects to improve community health.  She is also chair of the American Cancer Association, supporting health legislation to support health providers and patients. Professor Uebbing has been teaching at the School of Nursing since 2009. Her area of interest for the past 4 years, since completing her Sabbatical in 2019, has been the role of inclusion of standardized patients in graduate simulation laboratories as part of graduate education.

Current Research
Feasibility Study--What is the Effect of an Avatar-based Smartphone application on knowledge and self care among home-dwelling adults with Type II Heart Failure? A feasibility study to determine if novel interventions such as avatar-based education, can reduce hospital readmissions and promote self care health management. Clinical Partner St. Luke’s Hospital Heart Failure unit (Initial phase of planning- applying for an organizational grant and NIH New Investigator RO1 funding).
