Board the coach bus at Desmond at 10 am. You will travel to the
Morgan Library and Museum on 36th Street in Manhattan. The Morgan
is a major exhibition venue for fine art, literature, and music,
and one of New York’s great historic sites. Pierpont Morgan’s
immense holdings ranged from Egyptian art to Renaissance paintings
to Chinese porcelains. For his library, Morgan acquired
illuminated, literary, and historical manuscripts, early printed
books, and old master drawings and prints. To this core collection,
he added the earliest evidence of writing as manifested in ancient
seals, tablets, and papyrus fragments from Egypt and the Near East.
Morgan also collected manuscripts and printed materials significant
to American history. Enjoy time to visit the area or shop on your
own, and then enjoy a guided highlights tour at 1 pm, followed by a
lovely afternoon tea. Enjoy a bit more time on your own following
tea and board the bus at 4 pm for the return trip.
