Newburgh, NY -

Now that commencement has emptied the nest in college residence
halls, a mother duck has feathered one in College Courts at Mount
Saint Mary College. The mottled brown duck is sitting on nine to 11
eggs which she is incubating for about 28 days. Nesting occurs
between April and June usually in weeded areas where the nest is
concealed beneath undergrowth. Pictured above is Fr. Francis
Amodio, O.Carm., director of campus ministry and Mount chaplain,
blessing the duck and her soon-to-hatch offspring.
