Mount Relay for Life one step closer to goal

Fr. Kevin Mackin OFM, president of Mount Saint Mary College, presents Danielle Kearns, a senior English/education major from Norwalk, CT, with a $1,000 check from the Franciscans for the Relay for Life, March 23-24 on campus.

Kearns, local Relay chairperson and campus president of the Colleges Against Cancer club, said the Mount raised nearly $30,000 last year for the American Cancer Society, up from $16,000 the year before. Three hundred Mount students participated in 2011, and the goal is to have 350 sign up by next month. Donations can be made online at www.relayforlife.org/mtstmary
