The Board of Trustees of Mount Saint Mary College has
elected Elizabeth Ailes as a Trustee for an initial three year term
beginning January 2013.
Mrs. Ailes is a 20-year veteran of NBC News, CNBC, and America's
Talking, the forerunner of MSNBC.
She has brought her intensity of journalistic focus to the
147-year-old The Putnam County News
& Recorder and also The Putnam County
Courier, New York State's oldest, continually published weekly
established in 1841, as the owner and publisher of both papers.
She began her career at NBC News Radio and NBC News after
graduating with a degree in journalism from Southern Connecticut
State University. She was the first producer hired at CNBC and part
of a three-person team responsible for launching the network in
1989. She later became director of business programming at CNBC,
before being appointed vice president of programming for America’s
Talking.
She is the recipient of the Whipple Foundations' 2010 Preserve
Putnam Award, and the Chamber of Commerce Entrepreneurial Spirit
Award. Mount Saint Mary College president Fr. Kevin E. Mackin, OFM,
presented her with an honorary doctor of letters degree at the
college’s commencement ceremony in 2012.
Mrs. Ailes is married to Roger Ailes, Chairman and CEO of the
Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network. The Ailes family home is
in Garrison, NY.
