"Sculpture
and Landscape at Storm King Art Center" is the subject of the
annual Steinthal Lecture at Mount Saint Mary College, November 3 at
4 pm. The free public event will be held in Curtin Memorial Library
on the campus at 330 Powell Avenue, Newburgh.
Storm King docent Barbara Perry (right) will present a slide
show and information about the more than 100 carefully sited
sculptures at the 500-acre outdoor art park where the fields,
hills, and woodlands provides a natural setting.
Perry taught English at Cornwall High School for many years and
has a master’s degree from SUNY Fredonia.
The Steinthal Lecture, established in memory of Dr. Eric
Steinthal, was funded by his son, Nicholas. The senior Steinthal
was a noted Newburgh physician who died in 1986. He taught
religion, philosophy, literature and art in the college’s
continuing education department for 27 years.
The event is sponsored by the Division of Arts and Letters at
Mount Saint Mary College and Curtin Memorial Library.
