Overview
Increasingly, the field of media design and production require
strong technology skills with programming and hardware. Current
production techniques are used not only in film, television and the
performing arts, but in healthcare, engineering, web content,
corporate communications, and higher education. If you wish to
enter a career in these cutting-edge disciplines, you will need a
strong foundation in both media design and technology.
Technology and digital media at the Mount
This combined major allows you to develop creative skills, based
on a solid theoretical foundation and technical and conceptual
experience, with a focus on hands-on experience in production
skills. The program will include courses in hardware and software,
networking, digital imaging, digital film, nonlinear editing,
interactive web design, and digital illustration.
This program is administered jointly by a media studies faculty
member and an IT faculty member. The two faculty members will
coordinate student advisement, the offering of courses, and the
scheduling of those courses.
Internships
To get hands-on experience in a workplace environment, you'll be
required to complete and internship relative to your career
goals.
