Centers and Institutes at Mount Saint Mary: sharing
resources and experience.
The Center on Aging and
Policy, established in 2006 by Lawrence Force and Jeffrey
Kahana, promotes an interdisciplinary perspective dedicated to
excellence in research and scholarship in the field of gerontology.
The center is located in Aquinas Hall.
The
Center for Adolescent Research and Development is a
clearinghouse for research initiatives that include the
psychological, social, cultural, educational, and health-related
issues endemic to contemporary adolescents and young adults.
Established in August 2009 by center faculty Paul Schwartz, Frances
Spielhagen, Sarah Uzelac, and Amanda Maynard, the center is located
on the 3rd floor of the Villa.
The Catholic and
Dominican Institute promotes the college’s Dominican
heritage; advances the Dominican charism of study and service;
provides a forum for discussion of contemporary ethical issues; and
enhances Catholic and Jewish dialogue. Guided by the college’s
vision and mission statement, the Institute welcomes persons of
varied faiths and acknowledges different religious traditions as
essential to the college’s intellectual and spiritual
life.
The Collaborative for Equity in
Literacy Learning is located in the Division of Education at
Mount Saint Mary College. We offer services to parents and teachers
of students PreK-12, as well as researchers in reading and writing
processes and instruction.
