Newburgh, NY -
On-the-job training through an internship is an invaluable asset
as a student transitions into a new career, especially in
challenging economic times.
So is learning to craft a resume and cover letter, developing
solid interviewing strategies and improving one’s professional
image.
The road to a career begins at Mount Saint Mary College in
Newburgh, NY. They offer 400 plus internship and co-op experiences
which open doors to varied job opportunities in Long Island, New
York City, the Hudson Valley, the Capital Region and beyond, making
a Mount education a great value.
Genesis Valverde of the Bronx, NY, is an income development
intern for the American Cancer Society where she assists in
logistical planning and helps create publicity and informational
materials to be used on a regional level.
“Being an intern for the American Cancer Society has taught me
that persistence and dedication goes a long way especially in a
non-for-profit organization,” said the communications/media
production major who chose the Mount for its small class size and
family-like environment.
Frank Rodgers is an information technology major interning at
Technical Solutions LLC in Newburgh, NY. Rodgers is learning to
identify and define business or technical requirements applied to
the design, development, implementation, management, and support of
systems and networks.
Rodgers’ internship is preparing him for a career by “learning
how to multitask,” said the Warwick, NY resident. “On the job
training has helped me learn more than a text book has, allowing me
to consult with my supervisor and colleagues, allowing for
solutions that supports the company as a whole.”
Mount Saint Mary College is accredited by the Middle States
Association of Colleges and Schools, plus specialized accrediting
commissions such as the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education
(CCNE) and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher
Education (NCATE).
Ranked a Top-Tier Regional University (North) by U.S. News
& World Report, Mount Saint Mary College offers 47
undergraduate programs preparing students for careers in health
professions, business, education, social services,
communication/media, and more.
The college offers concentrations in criminology, educational
technologies, international studies, and web technologies, among
others, as well as pre-professional concentrations in pre-law,

administrators, businesspersons, medical doctors, veterinarians,
podiatrists, optometrists, dentists, radiologists,
anesthesiologists, physical therapists, and more.
The Mount offers the only four year nursing degree program in
New York’s mid Hudson Valley and boasts a NCLEX-RN passage rate in
the high 90s to 100. Recent nursing graduates are working in
hospitals in the tri-state region, and elsewhere in the Northeast
and around the country.
Students seeking that highly competitive program will visit the
state of the art labs with computerized patient simulators.
Students’ clinical experiences in community hospitals and
healthcare agencies offer valuable career experience for Mount
students as they pursue their bachelor’s or master’s degree in
nursing.
For students who want more, the Mount’s honors program provides
increased lab time and academic field experiences exploring the
Hudson River’s historic sites like Washington’s Headquarters and
nearby New York City.
An Open House at the college overlooking the Hudson River in
