A message from Sr. Catherine Walsh, Division of Arts and
Letters Chair:

Creativity is blossoming this spring at the Mount
Congratulations to Dr. James Phillips, the cast and crew of
The Pact for a moving performance. They
provided the campus with the experience of seeing a play developed
from a popular novel, and allowed the community to interact with
the playwright, Jeannette Angell. Students were provided a
discussion of the issues of the play with the playwright and a
mental health provider.
"Open Mic" began the annual April
Poetry Series co-ordinated by Dr. James F. Cotter.
Students, faculty and staff did readings and the Keys to the
Soul, the annual literary
magazine, was released by its Executive/Editorial Board.
Congratulations to Dana Conroy, Giuseppe Conte, Djamilia Iagia,
Danielle Kearns and Dr. Peter Witkowsky on a very fine
publication.
Our library celebrated National Library Week in
grand style with presentations from the college community and
presenters from the local community. Corn dogs in the library,
bravo!
Our poetry series continued with a reading by Margaret
Gibson on April 20th in the library at 4 pm.
Eamon Grennan joined us for a poetry reading
on April 29 at 4 pm in the Villa Library. We thank Dr. Cotter for
seeing that we celebrate poetry month each year.

Dr. Entrekin and the Mount Saint Mary College Choir brought the
songs of Gilbert and Sullivan’s H.M.S. Pinafore to
the MSMC stage on Friday, April 23 at 7:30 pm. It was a great
evening for all in attendance.
On April 27 at 7 pm, students featured their videos in the
Annual MSMC Film Festival. Thank you to all
of them and Dean Goldberg for providing this opportunity.
Creative people are the heart of MSMC. We celebrate them and
continue to support them.
