Annual show and sale at Mount Saint Mary College draws 51
artists
Stan Miller of Fishkill, NY, received the Sr. Francis Joseph
Egan Best in Show Award at the Mount Saint Mary College Artists on
Campus show for his watercolor, Oriental Poppies. He also received
a first place ribbon in watercolor media for this piece.
Other top award winners include Daniel Giordano of Astoria, NY,
Mary Evelyn Whitehill Award, for his mixed media Lapshoenberg
Rhapsody; and Jane Lawrence of Newburgh, NY, Gayle Clark Fedigan
Art of Food Award, for her pastel Apples and Strawberries. Giordano
and Lawrence also received first place ribbons in mixed media and
pastels, respectively.
First place ribbons went to: Bob Scully, Pine Bush, NY,
oil/acrylic; Sara Baloga, Binghamton, NY, Black & White
Photography; Carol Muise, New Windsor, NY, The Art of Food (all
media); Elaine Ralston, Olivebridge, NY; Hudson River Valley Scenes
(all media); and Newburgh, NY residents Tony Spano, Color
Photography, and Debra Femiak, Drawings & Prints. Ralston also
received an honorable mention ribbon in pastels.
Second place ribbons: Randy Chisholm, Chester, NY; Daniel
Cooney, Port Jervis, NY; Elysa Belessakos, Cross River, NY; Len
DeVirgilio, Newburgh, NY; Joan Kehlenback, Cuddebackville, NY;
Sandy Brandman, Monroe, NY; and James Amore, Warwick, NY.
Honorable mention ribbons: Newburgh, NY residents Michelle Card
and Tony Spano; James Steane, Middletown, NY; Dina Maston, Holmes,
NY; Michael Gancarz, New Hampton, NY; Veronica Plucinski, Sugar
Loaf, NY; and Russell Astrab, Salisbury Mills, NY. Astrab also won
the Artists’ Raffle, a $100 gift certificate to Picture it Framed
in Newburgh, NY.
The outdoor show, now in its 37th year, is held annually and
features original paintings, prints, drawings, photography and
sculpture by numerous artists in the region.
