Newburgh, NY -
Mount Saint Mary College made its inaugural march in the Saint
Patrick’s Day parade up Fifth Avenue in New York City this March
17.
College president Fr. Kevin Mackin, named to the national Irish
Education 100 list, led around 140 Mount students, staff and
alumni. He traces his roots to County Mayo, where his parents were
born, and to County Galway, where his father grew up. Martin and
Margaret met in Brooklyn, married, and had four children including
Kevin.
Fr. Mackin is pictured with Orange County (NY) Sheriff Carl
DuBois, and with religious studies professor Sr. Margaret Murphy,
OP, marching alongside Fr. Mackin in group photo with banner. Sr.
Murphy is chaplain of the Irish Heritage Festival Committee of
Orange County.
