Newburgh, NY -

Mount Saint Mary College’s Center for Aging and Policy (CAP)
will host Boomer Thunder: From Then to Now on April 19, 5 to 7:30
pm.
The public event will be held in Hudson Hall auditorium, on
campus at 330 Powell Avenue, Newburgh, NY.
Keynote speaker Brian K. Mahoney, editorial director of Luminary
Publishing and editor of Chronogram magazine, will speak on the
demographic of midlife (35-65 years of age).
Mahoney oversaw the launch of Luminary Publishing's forays into
the housing and alternative health markets— Upstate House and Metro
House, and Healthy Living. He also directs the company’s custom
content division, creating print and multimedia marketing vehicles
for clients from Manhattan to Albany, including HealthQuest
hospitals, Walkway Over the Hudson, Hudson Valley Greenway, and the
Institute for Integrative Nutrition, among others.
Boomer Thunder will feature informal networking. Research by
social sciences students will be on display.
The Center on Aging and Policy, directed by Lawrence Force,
Mount professor of psychology, promotes an interdisciplinary
perspective and is dedicated to excellence in research and
scholarship in the field of gerontology. Routinely, Mount students
are involved: e.g. through the Aging United student organization,
with Rae Fallon, associate professor of psychology, serving as
advisor.
The center also serves as a national resource for the Area
Agencies on Aging (AAA’s) and explores, describes, and measures
both formal and informal aging interventions of care within the
public and private sector.
