Investigating Research on Campus continues with the second iROC
seminar of the spring semester, presented by Jenifer Lee-Gonyea.
Her talk is entitled “Restoring” Justice: The Inclusion of
Restorative Justice in Crime-Related Undergraduate
Programs.
Restorative justice presents an alternative way of resolving
conflicts that gives victims, offenders, and the community a voice
in the ultimate resolution to an offense. Jenifer’s presentation
will focus on the presence of restorative justice courses in
undergraduate crime-related programs. The goal of her research is
to understand what types of programs are offering these courses,
where the courses are being offered geographically, what type of
information is included, and what type of benefit such courses
might have for the criminal justice system and society. Might they
provide for the possibility of “restoring” justice to all of those
involved in crime?
Jenifer Lee-Gonyea is Assistant Professor of Criminology in the
Division Social Sciences at MSMC. Her presentation will take place
on Thursday, February 21st at 4 pm on the main floor of Curtin
Library in Aquinas Hall.
