Overview
The adult interdisciplinary bachelor of arts is for prospective
teachers who intend to pursue a master of science and New York
State Teacher Certification in childhood and special
education. Students will graduate with three disciplines in
relevant fields of study, with English as the core, and choose two
of three disciplines: mathematics, natural science, or history.
Interdisciplinary toward childhood education at the Mount
Students will be able to continue their studies at the graduate
level, taking advantage of the Mount’s in-depth curriculum in
teacher education.
Mount Saint Mary College's education program is fully accredited by
the National Council of Teachers (NCATE), the standard of
excellence in teacher preparation.
Program requirements
Students majoring in the adult Interdisciplinary toward
childhood education must take a minimum of 33 credits and maintain
a GPA of 3.0.

network in the education field.

Career Outlook
According to projections from the National Employment Matrix,
prospects for individuals holding a master of science in education
are expected to be favorable, especially for those students that
choose math and science. Most job openings will result from the
need to replace the large number of “Baby Boomer” teachers who are
expected to retire between 2006 - 2016.
